The Enemy Isn’t in Washington — It’s in the Mirror
Walt Kelly’s immortal words through his swamp philosopher, Pogo, still ring true: “We have met the enemy, and he is us.” Every election cycle, Americans complain about corruption, inflation, overreach, and incompetence, yet they keep punching the same ballots for the same political vandals who created the mess. This isn’t some grand conspiracy of shadowy elites or hidden cabals. It’s the willful blindness of voters who have traded critical thinking for TikTok trends and political slogans.
Thomas Jefferson warned us centuries ago: “The government you elect is the government you deserve.” Sadly, he was right. The electorate has become lazy, addicted to emotional soundbites and celebrity endorsements, while the “progressive” machine marches forward, funded by billionaires who pretend to hate capitalism even as they profit from it.
The March of the Low-Information Voter
Winston Churchill once said, “The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” Look around — that’s no exaggeration. Today’s “average voter” can’t name their congressional representative, doesn’t read beyond headlines, and forms opinions based on social media memes. They’re more worried about feelings than facts, and they’re ushering in an era where mediocrity and Marxism walk hand in hand.
Progressive-Communist Democrats, yes, let’s call them what they are, have perfected the art of emotional manipulation. Their campaigns aren’t about logic or liberty; they’re about guilt, grievance, and government dependency. And voters, numb and compliant, lap it up like it’s free candy.
Democracy: Getting It “Good and Hard”
H. L. Mencken nailed it: “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.” Every new tax, every nanny-state regulation, every bloated bureaucracy is proof we’re getting exactly what we voted for — good and hard.
The sad truth? The battle for democracy isn’t being lost, it’s being won by apathetic, low-information, peer-pressured voters who think virtue-signaling is a political strategy. Until Americans wake up and start voting like free citizens instead of indoctrinated sheep, we’ll keep meeting the same enemy every election day — staring right back at us in the mirror.
We are so screwed.
