Tonight’s two-hour New York City mayoral debate delivered fireworks, drama, and the kind of political theater only New York City can produce. On stage were three very different candidates: Zohran Mamdani, the foreign-born communist front-runner pushing radical affordability and giveaway policies; former governor Andrew Cuomo, the controversial senior citizen killing progressive communist democrat; and Curtis Sliwa, the Guardian Angels founder and law-and-order populist. And then, there was the quintessential New Yorker, Donald Trump—absent in body but omnipresent in spirit.
Mamdani dominated early, wishcasting his communist vision for affordable housing and free programs for all. But when pressed on funding, his plan fell apart. Massive taxes? Government overreach? Mamdani couldn’t explain it, leaving voters wondering if his promises were anything more than flashy communist slogans. Without Trump as a foil, he risked looking like a “say-anything-to-get-elected” candidate.
Cuomo sounded…well, exactly like a progressive communist machine democrat. Familiar, predictable, and tied to a political machine many New Yorkers distrust. His performance didn’t inspire excitement; it reminded voters why some still see him as part of the entrenched establishment.
Sliwa, on the other hand, came across as the only candidate with real-world experience. Even without his iconic red beret, his forceful presence and street-level knowledge of crime set him apart. He’s clearly the law-and-order choice, but the question remains: can authenticity and grit overcome the progressive voting juggernaut in New York? I think not.
The debate leaves one undeniable takeaway: Republicans and independents must vote strategically. While Sliwa may have been the strongest on-stage performer, defeating Mamdani may require consolidating behind Cuomo to counter the communist threat. In a city dominated by the democratic machine, street smarts and integrity alone might not be enough.
One thing is certain: New York City voters got a front-row seat to a political clash that’s shaping the future of the city. Who truly won? That depends on whether voters prioritize communism and inexperience or hold their noses for experience and real-world results.
Bottom Line
New Yorkers often vote for the worst, get the worst, and deserve the worst.

Tonight’s two-hour mayoral debate between foreign-born Zohran Mamdani, the clueless commie, former New York governor and senior citizen killer Andrew Cuomo, the progressive communist democrat, and populist Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels.
Of course, the fourth candidate on the stage was the quintessential New Yorker, Donald Trump, who was both invisible and omnipresent.
It looked like Mamdani, the polling frontrunner, dominated the debate with his communist affordability and free giveaways agenda, but could not explain how such programs could be funded without massive taxes and government interference with private property. Without Trump as a foil, Mamdani would sound like a say-anything-to-get-elected loon.
Cuomo sounded like any other progressive communist democrat. And Sliwa, without his iconic red beret, presented forcefully, but without a game-changing impact.
There was no doubt that Sliwa is the law and order candidate with actual on-the-streets experience with crime.
Bottom Line
In the final analysis, it’s up to the Republicans to vote in mass for Cuomo to counter the communist threat of Mamdani.
Even though the best man on the stage was Curtis Sliwa, there is no way he can overcome the progressive communist democrat vote and the corrupt democrat political machine in New York.
