A New Assault on Your Rights and Safety.
Minnesota Democrats are at it again, pushing forward their latest gun control bill—SF 3655. This time, they’re aiming to strip away the rights of law-abiding citizens by banning the most popular firearm in America: the AR-15. But it doesn’t stop there. The bill also targets your magazines, outlawing any that hold more than 10 rounds. Why? Because these lawmakers think that you are the problem, not the criminals, the mentally ill, or the terrorists.
This bill, championed by DFL Senator Zaynab Mohamed, threatens your right to own semiautomatic military-style weapons and magazines that exceed 10 rounds. It doesn’t matter whether you use your firearm for hunting, home defense, or sport shooting; the bill has no room for such nuance. If this passes, you may be forced to register your guns with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) or, in the worst-case scenario, surrender them entirely.
Let’s not forget: these same politicians—who are actively trying to disarm you—are often the first to cry out about inequality, about unfairness. But when it comes to your fundamental rights, your voice is drowned out by their virtue-signaling and nanny-state mentality.
Criminals, Crazies, and Terrorists Don’t Follow the Law—And They Never Will
What these Democrats fail to understand (or simply ignore) is that criminals, mentally unstable individuals, and terrorists don’t care about laws. They will continue to find ways to get their hands on weapons—whether they’re AR-15s or any other firearm. Gun control measures like SF 3655 only serve to disarm those of us who follow the law and live in peace.
There is absolutely no evidence that banning certain types of firearms will reduce mass shootings. In fact, studies have shown that the overwhelming majority of gun-related deaths are committed by criminals with handguns, not “assault rifles.” The perpetrators of mass shootings are often mentally unstable individuals or people who have fallen through the cracks of society’s support systems. This bill won’t solve that problem. It only targets legal gun owners—those who are not the issue.
In the case of ordinary crime, AR-15s are rarely used. Instead, these weapons are most often the tools of violent drug gangs and organized criminal enterprises. When was the last time you heard of a bank robbery with an AR-15? Yet, this bill would penalize ordinary citizens who responsibly own these firearms for legitimate purposes.
A Step Toward an Islamic Theocracy?
What’s most disturbing about SF 3655 isn’t just its blatant disregard for the Second Amendment. It’s the mindset behind it. The same Democrats who are working tirelessly to infringe on your rights are also the ones advocating for policies that could make America look more like the Islamic theocracies they claim to oppose. It’s as if they want to soften the country’s stance, making us more vulnerable to the very threats they claim to fight.
By disarming the population, these lawmakers are paving the way for a society where only the government and criminals have the means to defend themselves. The people of Iran can tell you how that ends. The same could happen here if we continue down this dangerous road of submitting to every demand the left makes. The difference is, here, the left is working overtime to ensure we never have the tools to protect ourselves when the government oversteps its bounds.
Mass Shootings and Mental Health—It’s Not About the Weapon
Let’s be clear: banning “assault weapons” like the AR-15 won’t stop shootings. Mass shootings are often carried out by individuals who are not in their right minds—whether it’s a person struggling with mental health issues or someone with a history of violence. These are the root causes of mass violence, not the weapons they choose to use.
Furthermore, many of the attacks that are categorized as “mass shootings” have been committed by individuals who were known threats—people with warning signs that society ignored. SF 3655 doesn’t address the real problem of mental health and failed systems; it focuses on limiting the rights of law-abiding citizens.
Bottom Line
If SF 3655 passes, Minnesota will take one more step toward weakening your rights, your security, and your safety. This bill has nothing to do with making people safer and everything to do with empowering government control over the most basic human rights. It’s about creating a more vulnerable population, a population that could one day be as oppressed as the people in the very theocratic regimes these politicians claim to despise.
Minnesota citizens need to stand up. If we don’t, we might find ourselves in a place where only the government and criminals are armed—and we’ll have no one but ourselves to blame.
We are so screwed.
