Sharpies Don’t Write Laws: GOP Cowardice And The Failure To Lock In Trump’s Agenda

Executive Orders Are Invitations To Be Undone.

Let’s stop pretending this is complicated. Executive orders are not victories. They are placeholders. They are sticky notes slapped onto federal policy with the unspoken understanding that the next president can rip them off without breaking a sweat. Everyone in Washington knows this—including Republicans in Congress. And yet, year after year, they chose applause over permanence.

Donald Trump signed. Congress shrugged.

That’s the real scandal.

The GOP Watched And Did Nothing

Trump’s presidency was filled with executive actions that thrilled the base: immigration enforcement, regulatory rollbacks, energy policy, and agency discipline. The crowd roared. Pens were raised. Cameras flashed. And Republicans on Capitol Hill… did absolutely nothing to turn those actions into law.

No serious legislative push. No bruising floor fights. No willingness to spend political capital. Just fundraising emails and press releases celebrating “bold leadership” while quietly ducking the responsibility that comes with actual governance.

If executive orders were bricks, Congress refused to pour the concrete.

Temporary Power Masquerading As Strategy

Republicans like to complain that Democrats reverse everything the moment they regain power. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: Democrats can reverse it because Republicans let them.

Executive orders are reversible by design. They are inherently fragile. Using them as the primary vehicle for major policy change is like building a house out of cardboard and acting shocked when it collapses in the rain.

Trump issued orders. GOP lawmakers knew—knew—that without legislation, those policies were living on borrowed time. Yet they treated executive action as the finish line instead of what it actually was: a starting gun.

Why Legislation Scares Republicans

Passing durable law requires effort. It requires votes. It requires forcing members to go on record. And most of all, it requires risk. That’s what congressional Republicans avoided at all costs.

Why fight through committee? Why negotiate language? Why confront corporate donors, lobbyists, or squeamish moderates—when you can just let the president take the heat and call it a day?

Executive orders gave Congress the perfect excuse to hide. They could cheer the outcome without owning the process. When courts struck policies down, or a new administration erased them, Republicans could blame judges, bureaucrats, or Democrats—never themselves.

The Predictable Reversal Cycle

The results were entirely predictable. Trump’s actions faced legal challenges, many of them successful. Others survived—until they didn’t. The Biden administration erased entire swaths of Trump-era policy with ease, not because Democrats are brilliant, but because Republicans left the doors wide open.

This wasn’t sabotage. It was negligence.

If Congress had codified even a fraction of Trump’s agenda into statute, much of it would still be law today. Instead, GOP lawmakers opted for the illusion of movement over the reality of results.

A Party Addicted To Optics

Republicans love to talk about fighting the “deep state.” But the truth is far less dramatic: they didn’t fight hard enough, long enough, or where it actually mattered.

Passing a law is boring. It’s slow. It’s ugly. It doesn’t come with dramatic signing ceremonies. But it’s the only way policy survives. The GOP chose performance over permanence—and voters are left paying the price.

This wasn’t Trump’s failure alone. It was congressional cowardice, plain and simple.

Bottom Line

Executive orders were never meant to be the endgame. They were a bridge—one Republicans refused to cross. By failing to turn Trump’s agenda into tamper-proof legislation, GOP lawmakers guaranteed its unraveling. If Republicans want lasting power, they need less Sharpie theater and more legislative backbone.

We are so screwed.

Too important to leave to an executive order…

We cannot let the Democrats get away with NO VOTER I.D. any longer. These are horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS. They have all sorts of reasons why it shouldn’t be passed, and then boldly laugh in the backrooms after their ridiculous presentations. If it weren’t such a serious matter, it would be considered a TOTAL JOKE!

No Voter I.D. is even crazier, and more ridiculous, than Men playing in Women’s Sports, Open Borders, or Transgender for Everyone. Republicans must put this at the top of every speech — It is a CAN’T MISS FOR RE-ELECTION IN THE MIDTERMS, AND BEYOND!

Even Democrat Voters agree, 85%, that there should be Voter I.D. It’s only the Political “Leaders,” Crooked Losers like Schumer and Jeffries, that have no shame, and explain why it’s “racist,” and every other thing that they can think of.

This is an issue that must be fought, and must be fought, NOW! If we can’t get it through Congress, there are Legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted. I will be presenting them shortly, in the form of an Executive Order.

I hope the Supreme Court realizes, as they “painstakingly” review the very simple topic of Country Saving Tariffs (Those same Tariffs that have been used, by other Countries, against the U.S.A. to drain it of its Treasure and Security — for many years!), and all sorts of other things that are making our Country Rich, Powerful, and Safe Again, that these Corrupt and Deranged Democrats, if they ever gain power, will not only be adding two States to our roster of 50, with all of the baggage thereto, but will also PACK THE COURT with a total of 21 Supreme Court Justices — THEIR DREAM — which they will submit easily and rapidly when they immediately move to terminate the Filibuster, probably in their first week, or sooner.

Our Country will never be the same if they allow these demented and evil people to knowingly, and happily, destroy it.

Thank you for your attention to this matter — SAVE AMERICA!

PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
