Open Borders, Closed Eyes: How Progressive Communist Democrats Botched Immigration And Bungled Latin America

The Fantasy Politics That Replaced Reality

For years, Democrats have treated immigration like a morality play instead of a policy problem. Reality, history, economics, and geopolitics were shoved aside in favor of slogans, hashtags, and virtue signaling. The result? A border in chaos and a hemisphere in flames. Immigration didn’t “just happen.” It was engineered by neglect, denial, and a willful refusal to confront the actual causes driving people north.

While President “Sleepy Joe” Biden handed the immigration portfolio to Vice President Kamala Harris with the vague directive to find the “root causes,” Democrats predictably missed the obvious. The root cause wasn’t climate change, or corporate greed, or some abstract American sin. It was dictatorship, corruption, and failed states across Latin America that Democrats either excused, enabled, or actively coddled.

Dictatorships Don’t Fix Themselves

Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, and Cuba didn’t collapse by accident. They collapsed because generations of strongmen, populists, and socialist fantasists hollowed out institutions, looted treasuries, and crushed upward mobility. These regimes perfected institutional kleptocracy, where loyalty beats competence, and corruption becomes policy.

Argentina went from a global success story to a serial economic self-saboteur. Venezuela transformed the world’s richest oil reserves into empty shelves and blackouts. Cuba perfected repression and export-quality misery. Colombia, long plagued by narco-politics, became a transit artery for human despair and fentanyl precursors. These aren’t American failures. They are local disasters with global consequences.

Democrats, however, treated these regimes with kid gloves, preferring moral posturing over pressure. Sanctions were half-hearted, enforcement inconsistent, and diplomacy indistinguishable from appeasement.

Migrants As A Political Asset

Here’s the part Democrats won’t say out loud: chaos became politically useful. Vulnerable migrants weren’t just victims; they were viewed as future voters. The calculation was cynical but simple. Open borders, combined with generous medical, financial, and educational benefits, would foster loyalty. Gratitude would translate into ballots. Over time, permanent one-party rule would emerge, California-style, on a national scale.

This wasn’t compassion. It was exploitation. People fleeing failed states were reduced to political chess pieces in a long-term demographic gamble. When border towns collapsed under the strain and cities buckled under costs, Democrats suddenly discovered limits, budgets, and concerns about “capacity.”

The Monroe Doctrine Democrats Forgot

America didn’t withdraw from the Western Hemisphere without consequences. When the U.S. stopped caring about its own neighborhood, power vacuums formed. Criminal networks, narco-states, and hostile foreign interests rushed in. Democrats preferred nation-building lectures abroad while ignoring the fact that instability next door hits Americans directly.

Drugs, crime, and human trafficking don’t require passports. The Western Hemisphere isn’t an abstract foreign policy seminar. It’s America’s front yard. When that yard turns into a dumping ground for failed governance, Americans pay the price in overdoses, violence, and social breakdown.

When Everything Was “Unforeseeable”

The problem with most politicians is that they know everything until the shit hits the fan. Then suddenly, they know nothing. Democrats promised humane borders, orderly systems, and reduced migration pressures. What they delivered was record crossings, overwhelmed communities, and policy whiplash.

An incompetent, incoherent Vice President, Kamala Harris, never found the “root cause” because acknowledging it would require admitting uncomfortable truths about culture, governance, and the failure of communist economics in Latin America.

Bottom Line

Democrats didn’t just mismanage immigration; they misunderstood it. By ignoring Latin America’s dictatorships, indulging failed regimes, and treating migrants as political tools, they created a humanitarian disaster and a domestic crisis. Immigration isn’t broken because America is cruel. It’s broken because Democrats refused to deal with reality.

We are so screwed.
