Proposition 50 Exposed: How Democrats Are Rigging California for Their Own Power Grab

newsomSCREWING

If you think California’s political system is fair, think again.

Proposition 50 exposes the deep lengths Democrats are willing to go to consolidate power, as Governor Gavin Newsom attempts to hijack the state’s independent redistricting process. Behind the guise of reform lies a blatant power grab: crafting five new legislative districts stacked with Democrat voters—one seemingly designed to hand a lifeline to the termed-out California Senate Speaker. This isn’t policy; it’s politics engineered in secret, proving once more that when Democrats can bend the rules to their advantage, they will.

This election was called by the California Legislature and signed into law by the Governor to place State Measure 50 before voters. Because it proposes changes to the state constitution, voter approval is required in a statewide election.

What’s on the Ballot?

  • Measure 50: A proposal to authorize temporary adjustments to California’s congressional district maps through 2030.
  • Full details about Measure 50 are included in the State Voter Information Guide, mailed separately by the Secretary of State.

Return Your Ballot — Three Easy Options

Once your ballot arrives, fill it out, sign the Return Envelope, and return it by:

  • Official Ballot Drop Box — over 400 locations throughout L.A. County
  • Mail — try to return your ballot as early as possible—at least 7 days before the election—to allow for plenty of time to be delivered.
  • Vote Center — beginning October 25th, you can drop off your ballot or vote in person at any of the 251 Vote Centers.

Sincerely,

DEAN C. LOGAN
Los Angeles County
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk

Who is Dean Logan?

Dean Logan is the current Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk for Los Angeles County, California, overseeing elections in the nation’s most populous county. His tenure has been marked by significant reforms, including the implementation of a new voting system and modernization of election infrastructure. However, Logan has also faced scrutiny and controversy, particularly concerning his prior role as King County’s elections director in Washington state.

2004 Washington Gubernatorial Election Controversy

In 2004, Logan served as King County’s elections director during Washington’s contentious gubernatorial race between Democrat Christine Gregoire and Republican Dino Rossi. The election was one of the closest in U.S. history, with Gregoire winning by just 133 votes after several recounts. Logan’s department was criticized for administrative errors, including the discovery of over 700 uncounted ballots days after the election, which were subsequently included in the final tally. These issues led to public outcry and legal challenges, although Logan maintained that the errors were unintentional and did not affect the overall result. [Source]

Transition to Los Angeles County

Following the 2004 election, Logan resigned from his position in Washington and took a senior elections role in Los Angeles County in 2006. His move was partly in response to a “toxic environment” surrounding the King County elections office after the controversy. [Source]

Smartmatic Contract and Allegations of Impropriety

Logan’s tenure in Los Angeles has also been marred by allegations related to the county’s $282 million contract with Smartmatic, a voting technology company. Federal prosecutors allege that Smartmatic executives inflated the cost of voting machines and used the surplus funds to create a “slush fund” for bribing officials in the Philippines and Venezuela. While Logan is not accused of direct involvement in these schemes, he has faced criticism for his close relationship with Smartmatic executives. Documents reveal that Smartmatic funded a trip for Logan and his wife to Taiwan in 2019, covering business-class airfare and accommodations. Logan did not report these expenses on his annual disclosure forms, stating that the trip was for contract oversight and that the expenses were covered under the contract. [Source]

Ongoing Scrutiny

Logan’s actions continue to be under scrutiny. He has denied any wrongdoing, asserting that all contracts and travel were handled in compliance with county policies. However, the combination of past controversies in Washington and current allegations in Los Angeles has led to calls for greater oversight and accountability in his role. The situation remains a topic of public and legal debate, reflecting broader concerns about election integrity and transparency. [Source]

Vote NO on Proposition 50: Protect Fair Representation in California

Proposition 50 isn’t about fairness—it’s about power. It’s a carefully crafted attempt by Governor Gavin Newsom and Democratic leadership to wrest control of California’s independent redistricting process, giving themselves the ability to draw the lines instead of letting citizens decide.

Here’s why that matters:

  • It undermines the independent redistricting commission – California voters worked hard to create a system free from partisan manipulation. Proposition 50 would allow politicians to rewrite the rules in their favor, eroding trust in our democracy.
  • It rigs districts for political gain – The measure is designed to create five new districts stacked with Democrat voters, including one apparently tailored for a termed-out California Senate leader. This isn’t fair representation; it’s gerrymandering at the highest level.
  • It concentrates power in the hands of the few – By centralizing control, Prop 50 lets elected officials decide their own fate rather than letting voters have a voice. This is exactly the kind of insider politics that Californians rejected when they approved independent redistricting.
  • It threatens California’s democracy – Fair maps mean every vote counts. Prop 50 skews elections, diminishes competition, and makes politicians more accountable to party bosses than to the people.

Voting ‘No’ on Prop 50 is a vote for transparency, fairness, and genuine representation. Don’t let politicians rewrite the rules to benefit themselves—protect the system California voters fought for.

You Can’t Trust California’s Legislators—and Election Officials Aren’t Above Suspicion

California’s political landscape is marred by a troubling pattern of corruption and secrecy that undermines public trust. From the Capitol to city halls, elected officials have repeatedly exploited their positions for personal gain.

  • State Senator Susan Rubio has been implicated in a federal corruption probe involving alleged cannabis bribery schemes. [Source]
  • Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara is under investigation for misusing taxpayer funds on lavish international trips. [Source]
  • Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao faces federal bribery charges for steering city contracts in exchange for campaign contributions. [Source]
  • Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren Price has been charged with embezzling $800,000 intended for public projects. [Source]
  • Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is entangled in multiple scandals, including allegations of pay-to-play politics and mismanagement of city resources. Source
  • Moreover, California’s election officials, tasked with safeguarding our democratic process, have faced increased threats and harassment, raising concerns about their ability to maintain the integrity of our elections. [Source]

This pervasive culture of corruption and secrecy calls for immediate reform. Californians deserve transparency, accountability, and leaders who prioritize the public good over personal gain. It’s time to demand change and restore integrity to our state institutions.

Bottom Line: You Can’t Trust Democrats

Vote NO on Proposition 50. You can’t trust the bastards.

We are so screwed.
